The unfortunate The Crow Remake

Hello Everyone! Yes this is going to be a post about the unfortunate The Crow Remake.

And to get to the point, if it had just been it's own Crow movie then it would have been fine. Going by the trailer it is completely different from the original the Crow.

They changed everything else so why not change the names as well? Because they thought they could get an easy audience from the people who love the original. Unfortunately they only alienated the fans instead.

Kinda like what Mike Mingnolia did when he encouraged Guillermo del Toro and Ron Pearlman to try and get their third Hellboy movie made... only for them to loose the rights (because they expired) to make the film. Only for Mike to take all that support and made his own movie with it. All Mike had to do was let them make their movie to complete the trilogy and then Mikes movie would have had a much better response.

Yes I am still a tad bit bitter about that. Maybe he got sold on the idea to swoop in like that but there was a past article were he wasn't happy that he didn't fully understand how how the rights worked.

Is this why I feel like The Crow Remake is going to fail? Mostly.

I think it's the herald to a lot more crappy remakes to come.

The more I think about how this movie would be so much better if it wasn't trying to force itself to be a remake with no regard to the original material? I just get angry.

The makeup in the poster is only seen once in the trailer and then never again.

I have also made the mistake of reading the new movies wiki and... it is a shitshow. The rights holder and producer died in 2018. The movie didn't even start real production until 2020. So they are not just using existing material they are using a dead guys name as the producer who never even touched the final product because he has a ton of big name action flicks to his name.

They are even releasing the movie in the summer and not in October.

I'm saying this now, there is someone banking on this movie failing and failing hard. This is movie insurance fraud at it's best/worst. This bad movie idea was looked at by someone who knew it was going to fail and that person is expecting it to fail.

But i'm still not going to see it.
